Coca Cola history began in 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, led him to create a distinctive tasting soft drink that could be sold at soda fountains. He created a flavored syrup, took it to his neighborhood pharmacy, where it was sampled, pronounced "excellent" and placed on sale for five cents a glass as a soda fountain drink. Today, daily servings of Coca‑Cola beverages are estimated at 1.9 billion globally.
While Coke was imported to Australia from the United States in the early 1900s, it wasn’t until 1938 that The Coca Cola Company began production locally.
The first Australian-made bottle of Coca-Cola rolled off the bottling lines in 1938 in a small building on the corner of Crescent and Dowling Street in Waterloo, Sydney.
